Large, wheel-thrown Vase, decorated with hand-cut stencils and black clay slip. Wood-fired at the very front of the kiln.
This piece is fired in a large anagama wood kiln. A team of potters worked around the clock, feeding wood into the kiln for five days and nights. The flame paths and fly ash in the kiln create unique surfaces on each pot, resulting highly varied results including flashing, speckles and glassy melted ash.
Please note, there is a small divet in the base of the piece (as photographed).
