Large wheel-thrown jar decorated with hand cut stencils, glazed in celadon with apple tree wood turned lid.
Fired in a large anagama wood kiln, in a reduction atmosphere. A team of six potters worked around the clock, feeding wood into the kiln for five days. The flame paths and fly ash in the kiln create unique surfaces on each pot and highly varied results are achieved.
The lid is custom made to fit by woodworker, Peter Carragher, using offcuts from reclaimed furniture. Finished with mineral oil, a beeswax polish on the outside and Danish oil on the inside.
Measures approximately 22.5 cm tall.
Safety notice and warnings:
The ceramic base is dishwasher safe but hand wash recommended.
Microwave safe but not safe for use on direct heat sources e.g. stovetops or ovens
Do not expose to sudden temperature changes (e.g. pouring boiling water into a cold vessel), as this may cause cracking or breakage.
Handle with care. Handmade pottery can be delicate and may chip, crack or break if dropped or handled roughly
Keep out of reach of small children and pets to prevent breakage or injury
