Yunomi in Shino and Stove As wIth Cockle Shell Imprints - Wood-fired IV

£34.00
Only 1 available

Wheel-thrown and altered cup to create undulations that fit ergonomically in the hand and a delight to hold. Glazed in a rich shino and dusted with wood ash from my pottery stove. Fired on top of three little cockle shells in an anagama wood kiln for five days.

This piece is fired in a large wood kiln, in a reduction atmosphere. A team of six potters worked around the clock, feeding wood into the kiln for five days. The flame paths and fly ash in the kiln create unique surfaces on each pot and highly varied results are achieved.

Yunomi are traditional Japanese teacups. However these cups can be used for tea, coffee, or cold drinks. Simply hold the cup by the rim and base ring for boiling hot drinks.

This listing is for one cup only, although more may be available.

Stoneware-fired, dishwasher and microwave safe, although hand-washing recommended.
